Taking Advantage of Deals and Coupons

Any time you can save money it is great.  Even if it is just a few pennies here and there, it all adds up. This is especially important under the current economic conditions, in which many families are living paycheck to paycheck.  Many people don’t realize this, but there are endless amounts of coupons, rebates, and other deals out there ready for you to take advantage of.  This is not a comprehensive list, as these opportunities are almost endless, but here are some of our current favorite sites for coupons.

Online Deals

There are countless sites devoted to bringing you coupons that you can print off and use in physical stores as well as coupon codes to enter online at the time of purchase.  I rarely ever purchase something online without first checking a few sites for coupons, and more often than not I am successful in saving a few bucks.  This often comes in the form of x% off purchase, free shipping, or buy one get one (bogo) deals.

Coupons.com

Mainly providing deals on grocery items, coupons.com is a favorite among frugal shoppers. About.com had this to say about the site after recently being named “Best Coupon Site” in the readers choice awards.

“Coupons.com serves up a steady stream of manufacturer coupons that you can print or add to a store savings card. They’re constantly adding new coupons, so it’s worth checking in with them several times throughout the week.”

RetailMeNot

For broad web purchases, I highly recommend Retailmenot.com.  If you cannot find a website coupon on this site, it likely does not exist.  Not only are there several coupons listed for almost every site, but the online community votes the coupons up and down based on if they work or not and comment on their experience with the coupon as well as provide the amount saved.  This takes away the frustration of messing around with invalid coupons that often comes with deal searching. Below is an example of what you can expect to find on the site.

Groupon

Any avid deal shoppers is likely aware of sudden surge of sites like groupon.com.  These sites provide the user with localized deals based on their interests.  This way you do not have to sort through coupons that either don’t work, do not interest you, or do not have a location in your area.  Many people are skeptical as to if sites like these can last and how they are able to provide such great deals.  This is explained on Groupon’s website as follows..

“Groupon negotiates huge discounts—usually 50-90% off—with popular businesses. We send the deals to thousands of subscribers in our free daily email, and we send the businesses a ton of new customers. That’s the Groupon magic.”

We wish you the best of luck in your quest for deals.  Please comment with any experience you have had with these sites or other coupon sites in general.  Happy couponing!
